BIBI Reflects on Her Rise to Fame and Future Ambitions: “I Want to Succeed Enough to Travel by Private Jet'”

The MBC talk show Radio Star (planned by Kang Young-sun, directed by Kim Myung-yeob, Hwang Yoon-sang, and Byun Da-hee), airing on May 14 at 10:30 PM KST, will feature a “Wild Stage” special with singer Noh Sa-yeon, broadcaster Hyunyoung, singer-actress BIBI, and YouTuber CharlesEnter.
BIBI reveals that her popularity surged after appearing on Radio Star last year, thanks to her hit song Bam Yang Gang. “Seniors like Lee Hyori, Kwon Jung-yeol, 10CM, Lee Ji-hye, Jo Hye-ryun, and Jang Ki-ha sang Bam Yang Gang with me,” she shares, expressing gratitude. She adds, “Lee Hyori was the most surprising. She’s not just a person—she’s a brand and an era.”

As an actress, using her real name Kim Hyung-seo, BIBI is also making strides. She shares anecdotes from acting, highlighting her experience with Kim Nam-gil in SBS’s “The Fiery Priest 2.” “Kim Nam-gil has an incredible physique and is so skilled at action scenes that I worried he might get hurt while acting with him,” she recalls.
BIBI won the Best New Actress award at the Baeksang Arts Awards for her role in “Hopeless“ and the Excellence Award at the SBS Drama Awards for “The Fiery Priest 2.” At Baeksang, she touched hearts by saying, “I’m grateful to humanity for creating this art.” At the SBS Drama Awards, she humorously remarked, “I was about to leave after not winning Best New Actress… but they say I’m excellent?” Her candid acceptance speeches sparked buzz, earning admiration from the Radio Star MCs. On her music career, BIBI confesses, “I’m too free-spirited to be seen as an idol, but too ambiguous to be called a musician.” Recalling a music awards ceremony, she says, “I felt like I wasn’t fully welcomed anywhere, but seeing my seniors’ smiles brought tears to my eyes,” vividly recounting the moment.

In the Radio Star studio, BIBI, unable to choose a title track for her new album, performs both songs, earning high praise from the MCs. Her performance as a singer-songwriter draws applause, heightening anticipation. She also shares a wardrobe mishap from the Waterbomb Festival, “While taking off a T-shirt over my swimsuit, the strap came undone unexpectedly. Thankfully, the tape I had on prevented an embarrassing moment,” she vividly recounts.
Ahead of her world tour, BIBI opens up about her company’s revenue structure, saying, “Knowing my staff endure economy class, I want to succeed enough to travel by private jet.” She adds, “For our Korea concert alone, we have a 10-member band and 16 dancers on stage,” emphasizing her commitment to high-quality performances.

With her unique voice, inspiring speeches, and commitment to delivering top-notch performances, BIBI is undeniably carving out a space for herself in the entertainment world. As she prepares for her world tour, fans can look forward to seeing more of her diverse talents and the passion she brings to every stage.
